Shelby County Schools (SCS) is conducting a Business Market Availability and Disparity Study to determine if there is a disparity between the number of viable minority-, and woman-owned businesses that are available and are ready, willing, and able to perform Construction, Professional Services (including Architecture and Engineering), Nonprofessional Services, and Goods contracts, and businesses participating in SCS procurement and contracting.
The overall goal of the Disparity Study is to examine the contracting patterns by SCS, and the subcontracting participation of companies contracted with the SCS, to ensure that there is equal procurement and contracting opportunity and access. The results of the Disparity Study will determine if a Minority and Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Program is recommended.
The Disparity Study, which began on September 6, 2016, will take approximately 12 months to complete. Your participation will make it possible for the SCS team to acquire valuable information on issues related to the utilization of M/WBEs by SCS.
